Cool thing Dennis! The Magneto Guys have one down my way. I have the Octopus magneto bearing puller (like a lathe chuck on a stand with an extractor bolt screwed through the back) but I'm definitely top trumped by this!

Re: Flat Tank Frame Repair
Bit late to reply to this, but seeing as I'm here... Bad pitting on a vintage frame is probably much less risky than having repair work done. My fist flat tanker was very badly corroded having been built up around a frame/forks found rotting outdoors (it cost me a tenner in 1984 so you can guess how...

Re: ID for Dad's 1930s machine please
Hello, I see why you suggest it might be an OK but I'd say it's more likely to be an OEC. The giveaway is the plunger type rear suspension (it's actually swinging arm) and if you blow up the image you can just about make out the large E on the tank. This suspension is more usually seen on the duplex...

Re: indian bullet gearbox issue
Hi folks, long time no speak. I would say that if the bearing if splined to the shaft it will turn with the inner race of the bearing anyway, so there is no reason for the two not to touch. In this case there would usually be a slightly raised ring on the back of the gear - only a fag paper thick - ...

Re: Tappet Adjustment spanner size
I find a 4BA open ender works okay for most 5/16 tappet adjusters and you can just about get away with a radiator bleed key on 1/4 diameter ones.

Re: Triumph Twenty-One engine advice sought
if you are using points check on both cylinders ,the timing will probably be more advanced on one cylinder than the other.hence the damage is to one piston?? Good point. One of the pillar bolts holding the timing plate on my T140 has a stripped hole so the timing wanders on the top set of points & ...

Re: How on earth!
Hello all, long time no speak. Just a couple of points, I suspect cars have earth straps because of the heavy current drawn by the starter motor. Yes you will need to make sure there is good earth continuity across painted surfaces. It's true to say the bikes used the frame as an earth when new but ...

Re: 1966 tr6r ignition timing
Makes sense but do you really need to remove one set of points to reach the auto advance? The condensers cover big slots in the plate which you could get through - but I've always used a cupped washer under the centre bolt to lock it (two ordinary washers would do, one large enough to sit on the cam...
