Re: Kawasaki running eratic

Found it. There was a bit of rubber on the head inlet which was causing the manifold to not seat correctly as it was fitted unevenly. I took a scalpel to it and re-fitted the manifold. That's cured the revving issue. Took her for a ride today to see how well she ran. My plan was to get her up to tem...

Re: Kawasaki running eratic

Yeah - my first thought was air leak and I've tried all that. I even replaced the rubber manifold as the old one was a little perished - though it hasn't changed things. I had a spare few hours today so I checked the valve clearances and the timing. I also totally re-wired the bike from scratch re-m...

Re: Kawasaki running eratic

OK - I've had the bike in lots of bits. The throttle cable is not sticking anywhere. the throttle slide moves freely and the needle is not bent. I've taken the K and N off and put the original airbox back - she starts better with this set up seems like (but doesn't sound as angry.) I have double che...

Re: Kawasaki running eratic

Thanks mate. I haven't had chance to take a look at her for a few days.

I'll check out the needle although I think it was ok when I last saw it.

Re: Kawasaki running eratic

It's a four stroke.

A 1980 Z200. It does have a slide carb. It's a tubular slide with a cutaway.

I've been playing with the cable. Will try some different cable routing. See if it changes anything. Thanks Gus.

Kawasaki running eratic

My 1980 kawasaki is not running quite right. I wonder if you clever fellows can help. I seem to have a loss of power and torque - as though the engine is running choked up but this is not so. Sometimes the engine seems to splutter and spit particularly if throttle is applied quickly on up-hill stret...

Re: Z200 Exhaust

Hey lazybandit yeah same Ian, I have the bantams and a baby zed now too, my exhaust looks really bad but may clean up ok, I'm going to sand it back and paint it black for now, I'll quite fancy butchering it to make a high level shorty cafe pipe for my project, cheers though! You can have this z250 ...

Re: Z200 Exhaust

here is a link to a pic of a z250. See the upturned exhaust and the silencer? The Z200 has an exhaust that runs closer to the ground. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/classic-bikes-2/z250f.jpg&imgrefurl=http://motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/classic_bikes/kawa...

Re: Z200 Exhaust

If you give me your email address I will photograph it for you Ian. The Silencer and exhaust I have is not that rusty. A little pitted underneath but has a hole close to the bracket that I had to fill with paste. I'm very concious that it is not going to last for ever. I'm just trying to keep it cle...
