Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

Here are two that were taken with the SLR - pleased with the results but there is room for improvement.

Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

Very nice photos Tornado, love old aircraft and heli's! Digital is good, but only if you have the money to afford it in the first place - The body alone is worth a few hundred, and then you have to get the lens etc... Do you have any lenses for the camera's Velton? And how much do you want for them ...

Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

Probably what has happened Hooli :? The health side of things is slightly annoying, but good things can come out of bad situations - such as the photography :D Oooh - The K1000 is actually what I am looking for, along with a few lenses and filters - You can pick them up (the body only) for between Â...

Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

I can't work it out either Velton - Unless things were on the way out anyway. I happened mate! I spoke to the doctor yesterday, seems I won't be getting back onto the road anytime soon - Might just sell the bike as s/r and use the money from it to fund another hobby of mine - Photography ... I...

Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

Hope you all had a good new year's, I know I did ;) One of the bearings have also gone, looks like small end bearing - turning into a bit of a nightmare project :x Cleaned out the mesh thingy, was chock a' block with crud, clean now though. Thanks for the links Velton, have spoken to one of the sell...

Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

Hmm, this one does - It's like a minature tea strainer cup with small mesh, fits onto the end of my little finger, really, really small thing .... and it is definitely a CG  It will cost me around £100 for a new top end, barrel and piston, valves, gaskets, rods etc.... and £40 for a rebore. I...

Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

Mark (my friend) seems to think bits of it are indeed inside the crankcase somewhere - So more engine dismantling tomorrow  I'm not too sure about condition of connecting rod, I will keep an eye on that one. Not entirely sure how this happened - I don't think the bike had been serviced for 9-is...

Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

That's true Fast Frank, only way to learn is by getting hands on, just a bit worried about creating more damage. On the up shot, the piston is out, and is smashed to bits on the bottom half, and the valve is indeed jammed - He hasn't dismantled the engine any further as he thinks this is the cause o...

Re: Honda CG 1981 Rest. Project

Most of it is still there, but there are shards of metal (I think) covering it, and it's very, very loose. I am not too worried about it though, as it's going to be a while until I am back on the road, so things can stretch out if needed. The engine is currently 15 miles away in a friends garage, he...
