Front plates

I'm getting told that the blade type front numberplates are illegal, one of the bike I have has one and If I were to remove it, the alloy mudguards would look a mess.
Can someone clear this up for me , are they legal or not?

I am looking for some advice as to how to clean corroded and dirty crankcases, some which have been sat outside for some time but not in that bad condition, just a bit furry. Is there anything I could economically do at home without wrecking them, like you would with a wire brush? Are there any othe...

Does anyone know the dimensions for the swingarm bushes on a bsa c12?
I'm looking for some with an ID of 3/4" and an OD 1 1/4" diameter for a james swingarm.

Thanks a lot fellas, I think I saw oil spewing out and started panicking, this is my first proper on the road classic and I had visions of big bills and stripping the engine down... which isnt normally a problem but I have 3 projects ongoing at the minute and I dont really need another one just yet :D
