I have the AJS variant, the model 20. Engines are not in short supply, as are parts. An engine like yours would be worth about £250 to the right person. Not the easiest to work on, but not the worst either.

These sort of projects are great if you have full workshop facility and skills. If you have to pay for the kind of work needed to create a special, you better start buying lottery tickets in quantity. Still at the DIY, had a c*r full of crap for the tip. Got 100 yards from the front door and the f**king thing jammed in between gears. I did all the usual things, rocked it to see if that would move it. Tried to move the gear lever back to neutral, with no joy. So called the AA. Guy turns up in less...

A tip, clamp the inner in a vice between a pair of soft jaws,drop the nipple over the cable, and splay the cable with a nail to fill the depression in the nipple. Fill with solder.
