Re: Oil Additives

You're right. Sometimes it's not the new additives are bad, but that the old additives are missing. Off the top of my head GL-4 gear oil has additives for brass bits, GL-5 doesn't, for example.

Re: Oil Additives

What he said, it's hardly an advanced engine. Just slop decent oil in & change it enough. A proper filter is a good addition though.

Re: What did you do Today

14 fixed & a quick test ride today ended up being 207miles long. I've missed having a bike on the road!

I can't believe how good the front end is now, it never felt bad to me before but now it's like a different bike. Stable, pointy & totally ignores any bumps.

Hmm thinking about it I've sold 50% of bikes I've ever owned, so yes it is possible.

Re: bantam project

I think £500 was paid for a D10 with an engine in bits but the rest restored by the ex Mrs Hooli a few years ago. It's worth about £1k finished as far as I know.

Re: What did you do Today

Almost done the 14 now, it needs about one more day's work. Just chain n sprockets, balance throttles & grease the swing arm pivot to go.

Just awaiting my battery returning from being borrowed to take other bikes for MOTs.

Re: Cleaning tanks

Somewhere warm... could be an issue unless it's by the fire which isn't ideal with petrol. Good idea in theory though.

Re: What did you do Today

Ordered the chain n sprockets for my 14 today, that should be the last bit needed for the MOT. Except for fork oil that I plan to get on the way home as I should get the front end rebuilt this weekend.

Re: What did you do Today

I forgot that bolt again yesterday when I was under the Saab again! Got this the other day, as per the pic I've used it to drill out a knackered thread & fit an insert. Should stop the cam cover leaking on my 14. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Fiskkeeper/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-02/20170226_131...
