Re: Honing when fitting new rings?

Thanks trophy. How fine a paper would you use? 400, 800, 1200? Not done it before and I'd be worried about over doing it. Cheers.

Re: Honing when fitting new rings?

Thanks for that. I stripped the engine as the compression was low and it was burning oil. Looks like the valves were to blame, but was thinking I'd put new rings on while I was at it. If I don't need to get it honed I'll do it to be on the safe side. Thanks again.

Honing when fitting new rings?

Hi, quick question for anyone in the know. I'm fitting new rings to a Honda C50 engine, the bore is fine but will it need to be honed to help the rings bed in?
Many thanks.

Re: 1 1/2 Stroke

Thanks mervin, will do. The poor bike really needs some love and attention but time is tight. I'll start there and see if it cures it.

1 1/2 Stroke

Hi, I've a D1 Bantam that tends to lurk in the shed and only gets started every year or so. I challenged a friend with an old Honda 50 to a race tomorrow but having spent a while on it today it's not going be able to compete. It's starting ok but wont run right, it seems to be struggling to two stro...

Re: Oil For Norton ES2 500

I'd go with Castrol Classic 20w50. But any classic oil of the right weight should be fine, if you keep to the original oil change schedule it wont be in there for long.

Re: Outdoor cover recommendations?

Thanks, I'll try two covers. There's nothing quite like the wind and rain off the Atlantic though.

Re: Water in my carb

Thanks triton, will keep trying new things to keep the water out. Don't know how people managed back in the fifties, must have been late for work quite often.

Outdoor cover recommendations?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone could recommend an all weather outdoor cover? All it needs to do is be properly waterproof. I live on the west coast of Ireland and with the covers I've had the wind just drives the rain through. I've looked online but not seen anything I can be sure is up to the job. Tha...
