1971 Bantam MOT number plate req.

Unread post by nickjaxe » Wed Oct 21, 2015 9:11 pm

Hi guys...I have a 1971 Bantam that I bought a few months ago...its not been tested for over 30 years.

At present the rear number plate has white stick on digits on a black plate....will this be ok with an MOT.

Nick.

Your white on black plate will be ok , they are legal on vehicles manufactured from 1963 to 1972.

Pre 63 were 3 1/2" digits, Post 63 were 3 1/8" digits.

Guess they reduced the digit size to let you get the extra suffix on the number plate.

Would have trouble getting the legal spacing with the larger digits on an older size plate.

I remember number plates that were stamped or cast in aluminium so the digits were aluminium colour on a black background.

They are ok as well, pre 63 3 1/2" digits, post 63 3 1/8" digits still applies.

I think you can still get those, I'm hoping to when I get my little CL all registered etc, I just need to find that job and start making more than £40.00 a month.
