Honda 250 Nighthawk Ballance Pipe

Has your Voskhod broke again? Suffering dodgy Italian electrics? Post your tales of woe here. Or ask odd questions about the rear wheel spacer on a Vincent Black Widow, should it take your fancy.

Honda 250 Nighthawk Ballance Pipe

Unread post by Old Codger » Wed Nov 04, 2015 4:38 pm

Not been on here for a while, spending too much time toodling round on Notwork Fail's inspection trains!

However, my CB250 Nighthawk has rotted through the balance pipe on the exhaust.
The rest of the system has another couple of years of life left in it, so it seems reasonable to do a decent bodge to sort it out.

The choices seem to be either trim up the stubs of the balance pipes and fit a sleeve across the join, with a couple of clips or clamps to hold in place, OR chop the stubs off altogether, weld the resulting holes up and run without the pipe.

As I've little idea of the benefits of a balance pipe, what would people recommend?

I'd the same problem with my CD250. I cut it off and welded the holes. Worked fine for me.

I'd sleeve across the join, but then I avoid welding anything as it means I'd need to find someone to do it for me.
