Hopefully there are a few people here with early water cooled Honda's. I recently had a problem with my VT500FT Ascot spitting coolant from the overflow. The likely candidate seemed the radiator cap not holding pressure anymore. The genuine replacement part number is 19045-MB0-702 which is superceded by 19045-MZ3-405, current retail something like £38.00, a bit pricey. Anyway if anyone wants one try blue print part number ADC49902. I got mine from Amazon for about £8.00 but you can get them cheaper, I just happened to have a gift voucher value with Amazon and no other money to spare.
It's listed for loads of Nissan cars, including my wife's Note as I recall. Anyway today, fitted, and ran the engine up and no problem, it's even made in the UK. The original cap was for the early water cooled bikes, like the VF750, VF500 and later stuff too, I think MZ3 was one of the later 750 customs, loads of models anyway and a few different part numbers to start but they all end up at the MZ3 number. It's a different shape to the original, but that's no problem for me and I'm sure not for most people especially as these things are usually hidden.

Only things that really matter with rad caps is if they fit & the pressure they open at.

Sounds a much cheaper option, well found.

Indeed, that is the only requirement. If I was still at work in my old job I'd have made a note of this somewhere so I could tell customers and help them save money, although the management would not have been happy about it I'm sure. As it is I'm just spreading my experience, I would add that I did have some assistance from the Ascot forum which lead me to find UK alternatives for the part someone there found. I can not claim all the credit.

It's much newer but there is a similar thing with the TPS on a Honda, I forgot which bike but it's a thou. The TPS for the bike is only available with the throttle bodies for about £1,800. The TPS off a Prelude (or similar) is exactly the same and about £10.

Sounds about right, although I don't recall coming across that one, at least I could have added that to the system as a note as it involves something the company would sell. It's unusual for Honda to sell a TPS as separate unit even on the car though.

Just something I was told by a bloke at work, I can't confirm it's true.
