Bigger 3TA?

Has your Voskhod broke again? Suffering dodgy Italian electrics? Post your tales of woe here. Or ask odd questions about the rear wheel spacer on a Vincent Black Widow, should it take your fancy.

Bigger 3TA?

You can convert 350 3ta's to 400cc (apparently!) and I believe that people use tiger cub Pistons ?

Anybody know any more? Is it viable on a road bike? It seems to be a trials thing.
What does it do? More torque? More speed? Standard cub or high compression Pistons?

Just interested really but I do have. Project in mind one day.....

Why not just fit a set of 500cc pistons/barrels.

Cheers Geoff

Because you need a 500 head and conrods as well.

The 3ta conrods are steel, 500 alloy. The 3ta little end is a different size but the same as a cub. Afaik you can ream the 350 conrod to fit 500 Pistons at a push.

I had a T90 (sporty 3TA) converted to 500cc. There was an alloy spacer under the barrel so I assume the builder used standard 3TA rods,T100 barrel & pistons. Worked. Good bike.

Hi johnr,

None "off the shelf" that I know of, but I'm sure it could be done if you have the engineering skills.

Cheers Geoff

im sure its doable but think i will leave it as it is. the little triumph motor does seem quite sweet and smooth like it is, i cant see how any tuning is going to improve it for the way i will ride it. i just wondered if there was an off the shelf mod for it, but its probably going to be a lot of work and hassle for very little gain.
