feeble effort

Unread post by scotduke » Mon May 13, 2013 10:32 pm

Apparently it's a cafe racer:

It's so pathetically crap someone might just buy it.

The seller says he/she has never seen another one like it. Well there's a reason for that. And apparently a lot has been spent on it. That stretches the definition of a lot. It's also been tuned so it'll explode before you make it round the second corner.

Holy mother of. God. Actually, the twins (if done right) can look really good but that thing is a mess!

I do like optimists. Sometimes it seems to me lately people think they can put anything on e-bay. mention cafe racer and they're going to get megabucks ( comparatively) for it. That also seems the way with anything old. I have seen what I regard as silly prices being asked for CB250Rs's like mine, the sort of thing you might just pay for something really low miles with original pipes and not messed with for something with mismatched panels, wrong parts and all that. I think it'll take a few more years before they get their wishes there.

I'm like my regular ride, old battered and bit leaky, but still going.

Perhaps there are some cool bearded hipsters looking to upgrade from their fixed wheel bicycles and wanting to become part of the cafe racer set who have limited budgets and don't know that this was a joke brand back in the day. MZ two strokes of the same period may be ugly (to most) but they went round corners and were reasonably well made and reliable, as well as being cheap. These were just cheap.
