Doesn't really look like any of them. It's almost like it's been painted metallic grey, I'll try n get a pic next time I swear at the thing.

Should be easy enough to lift the head on a 2-st and have a dekko at the top of the piston for any pre-ignition/detonation.

Yeah but as I only got it in April I'm thinking it's sub-standard & I can send it back. I don't mind cleaning dirty fuel lines etc, but I shouldn't need to strip a new engine.

I made my chainsaw work today :D Managed to get the one screw that wouldn't move before undone so I could get the other cover of the carb. The needle valve was stuck. Oh & the manual lies, what is clearly marked in the manual as the idle speed is in fact the idle mixture. Set that by trial & error so it runs right. All good now, I'll make a start on clearing the huge file of firewood that needs chopping tomorrow.

The needle valve was 'huge' as befits something about 50cc.
