ARRGGHH

Unread post by gautrek » Thu Aug 29, 2013 10:52 pm

I pop over to see a mate in Rehab today who got cleared up by a car on the 1st May. He lost his left leg above the knee. But he is on the mend so being at a lose end I thought I would nip over to see him. Its about 70 mile round trip. So there I was blasting down the Fosse way at about 70 when I hit a swarm of flies. I load hit my on the visor and a very large one hit me on the upper leg.

It wasn't til I glanced down at my sat nav a few miles later that I noticed my tacho bezel and glass had popped off. AAARRRRGGGHHH.
Bloody £14 for a pair of spares instrument glasses and about £15 for a new bezel. Plus the bar stewards have added speed cameras to numerous stretches of the Fosse. I am not sure but I may have blasted through one at slightly above the limit. I did spot it and was slowing down but AAARRRGGHHHH.

Sorry to hear about your mate. I think all of us who ride a lot are aware of that kind of risk. I hope he can come thru rehab - having the knee will be a big benefit at least.

As to the insects, have a look at my post as well. Hopefully you won't be done for speeding. I doubt you'd be able to use an insect impact in court as an explanation for exceeding the speed limit however!

The good news is that i have got away with the speeding. I must have been just under the limit by the time I went past the camera. :D

Good to hear you missed the speeding fine.

Hope your mate is doing ok.

Apparently the hospital is allowing him out and about. So one of his fellow CMA mates is taking to various events. He has invited everyone to come and look at his stump.
They can also see if they can see his phantom leg as apparently when he takes a piss it feels like his foot is burning.
