Funeral Request (Essex)

Unread post by Nick Snow » Mon Oct 27, 2014 12:30 am

Please excuse the fact that this is my first post, and I've only just become a member.

I expect this isn't the first time this questions being asked, but ask anyway. I am looking for a classic British bike from the 1950s or 1960s to lead my fathers funeral procession into the crematorium in Southend, this Thursday the 30th October.

My dad raced bikes, BSA Bantams moving on to Norton and Triumphs in the 1960s. His love British for bikes was kept alive in the 1990s when he managed to get hold of a Triumph Trophy, and a 1965 BSA Bantam. His absolute love was obviously a Manx Norton but equally a BSA Gold Star.

If possible I would like to organise a escort of an old British bike just into the crematorium in Southend, ideally the BSA Gold Star, but that may be extremely difficult not only to find, but also to organise.

I am fully prepared to pay for this service, or make a donation to a charity or an organisation as agreed. Obviously I'm not expecting anyone to do this for free, for man they didn't know.

If anybody knows of anyone who would be willing to do this, especially if they live in Southend area, I would be extremely grateful.

Hi Nick
Sorry for your loss. If no-one gets back to you from here you can try the IKBA message board there is a bit more of a tickover there, and there appears to be a number of posters from down that way

I've a mate in Kent, just over the Dartford bridge, I'm asking him as he has a BSA Goldie and a Norton Dommie. I can't say what he's up to but I did just ask. Send me a PM with your email address as he isn't a member in here.
