Really nice job Geoff, I'm almost inspired to get back in the shed! (this would get the wifes vote in advance of the bike racing coverage restarting on the telly)

Hi GB,

I should have given CB a bit more info, I thought they would get back to me if they were going to use it. I am imminently going to re-build the re-built engine to hopefully address the oil leaks, this doesn't happen with a Japanese engine, sometimes I could curse Edward Turner :D :D :D .

Cheers Geoff

Hooray, the Speed Twin passed it's first MOT in 40 odd years :D :D :D .

MOT done by a shop new to me, but only few minutes down the road called "Bike Aid"(Trowbridge). Sort of an old fashioned outfit in someways so fully sympathetic to older bikes. Not that they were going to let anything through that was sub-standard and even phoned a Triumph expert when discovering the QD wheel set up seemed to have a bit of back-lash (answer "They can do that from new").

So armed with the V5C, V10, insurance, and MOT I set off to get my "Free" tax disc, or so I thought. Seems the V5C has "Not Licensed" (Their spelling) under the taxation class, something I supposed was due to it being SORNed. Result, no tax until I get it changed to "Historic" which will entail a visit to my local DVLA office. Be warned those that might be returning a long unused bike to the register.

So I took the long way home :D to do a bit of practical testing. Unfortunately I do have clutch slip under a bit of welly (see T90 slipping clutch thread) so it remains to be solved. Seems I did not re-new the clutch springs after all (checked receipts) so a new set ordered when I got home. It did sound right rorty though, fantastic. Only a few drops of oil leaking and I can live with that for the time being.

Cheers Zunspec

Excellent work there 8-) I believe when you walk into the DVLA office you'll walk out with a Tax Disc.

Hi Paul,

Thanks, and if the ride back from the MOT is anything to go by I'm sure it will be a hoot. Now all we need is some sunny weather :D .

You were correct folks. The very nice lady took all of 5 minutes to issue me with a "Historic" free of charge tax disc, now going out to give it a damn good thrashing :D .

Cheers Geoff
