Tempting as it might be to cut corners, get it welded properly.
Tank sealants are rarely a cheap and simple option, and rarely a good idea.

I have suspicions that the leak could have been caused by the mounting bolt, don't know how yet.

Off to the USofA on Sunday so investigations will have to wait.

I just remembered on my T90 Triumph I once omitted a washer on a rear tank mounting bolt...tightened the bolt and as it was too long it went through the tank...maybe that's your problem?

Now that's what a real motorbike sounds like, and the sun is shining, what a nice day

About time too Hooli :D ,

If the the tank was non-leaky and was fitted I'd have had a tootle up and down the road.

Hi Jimmy - I'm still contemplating the tank. The tank mounting bolts are shouldered so I don't think they could have been over tightened and penetrated the tank, it's something else.
