Geoff
I have had the bike running but still have a few wee jobs on it before I present it for an MOT. I know it doesn't require one by Law, but I want someone more professionally adept than me to check it over. I have a landmark birthday coming up in the next few weeks and I have provided my wife with a wish list of parts for the bike, so here's hoping
I bumped your thread because I had an idea in my head about fitting a tacho, and wanted to look at your bike to see if there was one fitted to yours, and on looking over your thread again, decided it needed to be up front

Re: Triumph 500 Speed Twin
Hi jimmy,
To fit a tacho on mine I would have to remove the nacelle etc. It doesn't need one really as I don't thrash it up to high revs as a rule, although saying that it will rev OK and you need to do that to get best performance. I have fitted a 20T engine sprocket and it bops along quite nicely at 50-60 mph without the revs getting too high. Had it up to an indicated 75 (ish) though.
Cheers Geoff

Re: Triumph 500 Speed Twin
i may have a tacho in the box of spares that came with my t100a, i just fitted a central speedo.
Re: Triumph 500 Speed Twin
I've actually removed the tacho from my 66 speedtwin (Same as Zunspecs) in preparation for refitting the full nacelle. Interesting to see zunspecs issues with oil leaks, I fitted new pushrod tube seals which have worked fine, but it is also leaking from behind the sprocket. So it looks like the gearbox is going to have to come apart at some point for new seals
Enjoying riding it about at the moment though
