Octopus electrical test bench

Unread post by DAM » Sun Jul 08, 2018 7:36 pm

I want to test a spare magneto for the A.J.S and some dynamo's off a friends Rover car so dragged this out,did a few repairs to it and got it to power up.

It's 3.5 HP single phase motor is strange, you can change speed and direction of rotation without turning it off, a handwheel on the front of the machine turns the brush carrier by a bowden cable allowing you to go from 5000rpm to 0rpm then back up to 5000rpm in the opposite direction.

Cool thing Dennis! The Magneto Guys have one down my way. I have the Octopus magneto bearing puller (like a lathe chuck on a stand with an extractor bolt screwed through the back) but I'm definitely top trumped by this!
cheers Rick

That's it; looks like a crazy but useful 50s kitchen that lot!
