Race report from Pembrey

Unread post by Zunspec » Wed Apr 23, 2014 12:36 am

Well, a weekend of ups and downs. Practice day on Friday was spent adjusting suspension and cleaning up the bores and piston after a slight seizure. We had a right good looking pit set-up courtesy of the Gary and his dad:

Saturday started with a win :D . Followed by the discovery of a binding front disc, of course I had left the spare at home so duly set off for a 250 mile round trip to retrieve it. As it happens Gary and his dad sorted something and then went out and won the 2nd race :D .

Medal for the aggregate result on Sat. 1st 500 Air Cooled (and lap records to boot).

Sunday started well, with the disc sorted a good race was in the offing. On the third lap however the other leading 500 A/C rider (Symon) missed a gear causing Gary to go past on his right. Pulling back to left for the approaching flat out right kink Gary was hit from behind by the rider that gone past Symon on the left side and the Seeley took a 120 mph trip to the top of the tyre wall. Both riders OK fortunately, a racing incident no ones fault. Symon won (and the final race in the wet) and took 0.1s off Gary's Sat. lap record, well done to him.
A bit of video from lap 3 on the Sunday before the whoopsie:

Bike not too badly off, mainly replacing various bolt on bits (Fairing, Seat, tank repairs, rht clip-on, front fairing/tacho mount etc.). It looks as if the frame and forks survived OK. Trying to get it all back together for Lydden in May.

Cheers Geoff

Not bad, Hoolie but can go a whole lot better both engine and suspension wise. We are trying to get it back together for the next meeting a Lydden Hill on 17/18 May.

Cheers Geoff

Good results mate up until the 'off'. Hopefully not too much to repair and back to the action
